What did our assessment tell us?

Through completing a computational fluency assessment with our entire school in mid September, we were able to see where our stretches and strengths are with the students.  Using the algorithm was a strength and many students were able to show their answers in one way with fairly strong accuracy.  However, a stretch for many students was showing more than one way to find an answer to a problem. To be fully proficient, students need to be able to show that they can find an answer to a question in 2 (sometimes 3) different ways. We continue to work with our Learning consultant to find strategies that will support students in being confident, flexible, and accurate when working on math problems.  In good news, when doing our class reviews in early November, many teachers reported that students were already improving in this area.  We will re-assess in May 2026, and hope to see that students are able to confidently show their learning in more than 1 or two ways.
