Reading Proficiency

READING PROFICIENCY

 In late September and early October, all students participated in the DART Reading assessment.   From that info, we are aware of 9% of our students that need some direct extra supports in developing their reading strategies, comprehension, fluency, etc..  During class reviews in mid October, we were able to discuss next steps with these particular students and what the support team (Teacher, Resource Teacher) will be doing to help each child move forward moving from Emerging to Developing in their reading proficiency.  After using these individualized targeted supports for 8 weeks, we will do another reading check in to see how things are going and where we need to adjust in order to meet the needs of the students.
