Action Post - Scanning our data

An action that we have taken to support our schools learning focus

Our teachers spent time during our December professional learning day working with our district consultant. In grade groups, teachers looked over the surveys their class had completed and pulled out some common themes and patterns that emerged. By scanning this data, teachers were able to set intentions for moving learning forward. Many teachers noted that confidence, engagement, and enjoyment are closely linked to understanding. Additionally, many teachers noticed that building the growth mindset in their students would be an area of focus moving forward.

This action supports our school’s learning focus in the following ways:

Looking at patterns across grade groups helped teachers identify shared priorities, which builds coherence across the school. It also demonstrates an ongoing commitment from our teachers to support the development of resilient learners. By fostering students’ beliefs that their abilities can improve with effort, teachers are helping students take more ownership of their learning and persevere through challenges.
